The Yamaha XJ600 Diversion is a reliable, air cooled machine with built with modern technology and easy riding characteristics. We went looking for a bike and found a 24 year old Diversion with only 8k kilometers (5k miles) on the teller. The bike was dealer maintained and the owner sold it because he was getting too old and the bike too heavy.

The CB500X is light and slim, with a roomy cockpit and nice lower body ergonomics that make the transition from sitting to standing very easy indeed. The KTM is a much more focused machine, with an emphasis on being the best off-road motorcycle this side of a muddy puddle. The suspension plays a big part in this and is provided by WP.
My question is on the engine to weight ratio more than any other specs, fitting, character, etc. Yamaha XSR700 is 410lb wet and has a 689cc engine putting out 74HP. The Honda CB500F is slightly heavier with a 471cc engine only doing 47HP.

It seems to me that people generally rate the CB500 as the best of the DAS favoured 500cc commuters. If I had bought a 500 after passing my test I probably would have bought a CB over an ER (which I did my DAS on). It's the best in its league, wellin comparison to the GS500 and ER5. Honda, best engine build forever!
